Coven Crafted Jewelry Care Guide

Each Coven Crafted piece is lovingly handmade with polymer clay and carefully finished for durability. To keep your jewelry looking its best, please follow these care tips:

General Care

  • Polymer clay is durable but not unbreakable. Avoid bending, dropping, or crushing your jewelry.

  • Remove jewelry before sleeping, exercising, showering, or swimming.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to heat (such as leaving pieces in a hot car).

Water & Chemicals

  • Jewelry is water-resistant, not waterproof.

  • Avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and cleaning products.

  • If your piece gets wet, gently pat dry with a soft cloth.

Cleaning

  • Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth.

  • For light marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used — no scrubbing.

  • Do not use alcohol, acetone, or harsh cleaners.

Storage

  • Store jewelry in a cool, dry place.

  • Keep pieces separate to prevent scratching or rubbing.

  • Avoid storing in direct sunlight for long periods.

Handmade Disclaimer

  • Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind. Minor variations, textures, or small imperfections are part of the magic and not considered flaws.

With proper care, your Coven Crafted jewelry will remain a treasured piece of your collection for years to come

What is polymer clay?

Polymer clay is a versatile, synthetic modeling material composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plasticizers, and pigments (for color). Once baked and cured, polymer clay becomes a durable and lightweight material suitable for jewelry and crafts. Sometimes we add paint, shimmy mica powder, and other materials.

Although polymer clay is synthetically made of PVC base, it is not toxic to your hands or earlobes. If worried, consider wearing it for a few minutes before extended wear.

Are polymer clay earrings heavy?

No! Polymer clay earrings are generally lightweight, and they will not weigh your earlobes down, making them comfortable for extended wear. Polymer clay earrings generally weigh less than a quarter (or 2oz). Clay earrings are lighter than metal or ceramic alternatives. Please note, that earrings with metal accents will may be slightly heavier.

I have sensitive ears. Can I wear your earrings?

Yes! All earrings have hypoallergenic and nickel-free posts. Most earring posts have stainless steel, raw brass, or gold plating. These materials are cost-effective and less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions (compared to nickel).

Do you use UV Resin on your jewelry pieces?

Some Coven Crafted items do use UV resin to improve durability. Any item that contains resin will always be clearly marked in the product listing.

Because prolonged skin contact with UV resin (even when fully cured) may cause sensitivity for some people, we never leave exposed resin on the backs of earrings or studs. Backs are embedded in the clay, secured with adhesive, or fully sealed with an additional protective topcoat.

If exposed resin is used, it is typically limited to front-facing or dangle elements where prolonged skin contact is unlikely. All resin is cured for at least double the manufacturer’s recommended time.

Some non-wearable or low-contact items may include resin for durability, including:

  • Trinket trays
  • D&D dice
  • Magnets
  • Badge holders
  • Keychains
